President Bola Tinubu urged the newly appointed Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Esther Didi Walson-Jack, to carry out her duties with integrity and transparency.
This counsel was given on Monday in Abuja, following the swearing-in ceremony of Walson-Jack, just before the Federal Executive Council convened for its session. President Tinubu also commended the exceptional tenure of Walson-Jack’s predecessor, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan.
In her statement to the press, Mrs. Walson-Jack expressed gratitude to the president for entrusting her with this responsibility. She also acknowledged the mentorship and guidance she received from the former Head of Service, Dr. Folashade Yemi-Esan, throughout her career.
“I am committed to building upon the current reforms in a manner that fosters innovation and creativity, enabling the civil service to enhance its effectiveness and efficiency in delivering on the Renewed Hope Agenda,” she remarked.
Brief Biography
Mrs. Walson-Jack, a graduate of the University of Lagos with a Bachelor of Laws degree, was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987. Her journey in public service began as a state counsel in Rivers State in 1992, eventually progressing to the role of Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa State. In 2009, she transitioned to the Federal Civil Service and was appointed as Permanent Secretary in 2017. She is an Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) and an alumna of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation is also the esteemed author of the novel, ‘Roses in the Thorns’.
