The Lagos State Police Command has arrested no fewer than 118 suspects and recovered firearms, illicit drugs, and other incriminating items in a sweeping two-week crackdown on crime across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Ikeja, attributing the successes to proactive policing, intelligence-driven operations, and rapid response to criminal activities.
He said the suspects were linked to a wide range of offences, including armed robbery, cultism, kidnapping, vandalism, murder, unlawful possession of firearms, and street violence.
According to Tijani, items recovered during the operations include 11 locally fabricated Beretta pistols, one English-made Beretta pistol, a cut-to-size pistol, two dane guns, nine telecom power batteries, four cutlasses, a knife, 21 bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, and assorted charms.
Highlighting key operations, the police boss said two suspected kidnappers, aged 21 and 23, were arrested in the Ikorodu area. Preliminary investigations, he said, linked them to the kidnapping and murder of a 17-year-old victim, Thomson Adams, on April 22.
“The suspects also confessed to an earlier abduction and murder of a female victim in November 2025, identified as the ex-girlfriend of one of them, during which a ransom of N300,000 was paid,” he added.
Tijani further revealed that the command made significant progress in tackling infrastructure vandalism following intelligence provided by Globacom on the theft of telecom power assets. One suspect arrested in Ikeja reportedly led operatives to two other members of the syndicate in Alausa and Ikorodu, leading to the recovery of nine stolen telecom batteries.
On armed robbery cases, the commissioner said a 25-year-old suspect was apprehended after allegedly robbing a woman at Ayetoro Bus Stop, while a 19-year-old was arrested on Anthony Bridge during an attempted robbery. Subsequent investigations led to the recovery of two locally fabricated pistols.
He added that operatives also intercepted two suspected gun runners, both aged 20, during a sting operation while attempting to sell a Beretta pistol. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend their alleged supplier based in Kaduna State.
The command also intensified its crackdown on cult-related activities, leading to the arrest of 41 suspected cultists across Iwaya, Lagos Island, Ajao Estate, Ilasan, and Festac. The arrests included eight suspects in Iwaya, 20 linked to rival cult clashes on Lagos Island, and five in connection with a murder in Ilasan.
In a related development, police operatives raided criminal hideouts in Ilasan, Lekki, and Maroko on April 27, resulting in the arrest of 58 suspects allegedly involved in traffic robbery, phone snatching, and harassment of residents along the Lekki corridor.

Tijani assured that all suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, reiterating the command’s resolve to sustain its crime-fighting efforts.
He urged residents to support the police with timely and credible information, stressing that criminals would find no safe haven in Lagos State.
