Troops of the Joint Task Force, North West, under Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued 13 kidnapped victims and disrupted terrorist operations in Zamfara State during coordinated, intelligence-led missions.
The successful operations, carried out in Anka and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas, underscore ongoing military efforts to combat insecurity and dismantle criminal networks in the North-West region.
In Anka LGA, troops of Sector 2 based in Bagega acted on credible intelligence regarding armed terrorists advancing on motorcycles towards Tungan Kudaduku. Leveraging real-time surveillance, the troops swiftly mobilised, engaged the suspects with superior firepower, and forced them to flee.
A subsequent sweep of the area led to the discovery of a makeshift terrorist camp, where five kidnapped civilians were found and rescued unharmed.
In a separate operation in Ungwan Rogo, Kaura Namoda LGA, troops again responded to intelligence on terrorist presence. Upon contact, a fierce exchange of gunfire ensued, compelling the terrorists to retreat and abandon their captives.
Eight kidnapped victims were rescued during the encounter, while two vehicles used by the suspects were recovered.
All rescued individuals have since been handed over to relevant authorities for medical attention and further support.
