The inauguration of the Nigerian-Dutch Business and Investment Forum by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the Hague, Netherlands will significantly enhance economic ties between the two nations, says Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
Kalu further reiterated the House of Representatives’ unwavering dedication to fostering economic cooperation, friendship, and bonds between Nigeria and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. He emphasized the potential for both countries to collaboratively pursue shared objectives and diplomatic aspirations, ultimately leading to a prosperous, sustainable, and harmonious future for their citizens.
During the celebration of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander’s birthday at the Netherlands embassy in Abuja, Kalu expressed his admiration for the longstanding friendship and supportive partnership between Nigeria and the Netherlands. He highlighted the Netherlands’ vital role in aiding Nigeria’s development initiatives across various sectors such as trade, agriculture, water management, and renewable energy.
Moreover, Kalu praised President Tinubu’s recent inauguration of the Nigerian-Dutch Business and Investment Forum, underscoring its significance in fostering stronger economic relations between the two countries.
He acknowledged the current administration’s commitment to implementing reforms that promote a conducive business environment, including measures like enhancing transparency in the foreign exchange market, eliminating fuel subsidies, and facilitating the repatriation of profits for foreign companies.
In addition, Kalu expressed appreciation for the Netherlands Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Wouter Plomp, recognizing his relentless efforts in bolstering diplomatic ties and economic relationships between Nigeria and the Netherlands. Kalu commended Ambassador Plomp’s exceptional leadership, vision, and dedication to fostering friendship and understanding between the two nations, underscoring the pivotal role he has played in advancing bilateral relations.
