The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has lauded the Federal Government and security agencies for the successful rescue of schoolgirls and their teachers abducted in Oyo State, describing the operation as a major victory for Nigeria’s security architecture.
In a press statement issued by its National President, Comrade Aisha Ibrahim, NAWOJ expressed relief and joy over the safe return of the victims, while commending the coordinated efforts that led to their rescue.
The association praised the unwavering commitment of the Federal Government in ensuring the victims regained their freedom, noting that the success reflects growing determination in tackling insecurity across the country.
NAWOJ specifically applauded the gallant efforts of the Nigerian Armed Forces—including the Army, Navy, and Air Force—as well as the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
According to the statement, the professionalism, resilience, and synergy among the security and intelligence agencies were instrumental in the successful operation.
The association also commended the Governor of Oyo State for his leadership, cooperation, and support throughout the rescue mission, emphasizing that the collaboration between federal and state authorities demonstrates the effectiveness of unified action in addressing national security challenges.
“This successful rescue represents a significant victory for Nigeria. It rekindles hope among citizens, strengthens public confidence in our security system, and highlights the increasing capacity of our security forces to protect lives and secure communities,” the statement noted.
While celebrating the safe return of the victims, NAWOJ called for sustained and proactive security measures, particularly around schools, to prevent future occurrences and ensure that educational institutions remain safe environments for learning.
The association further prayed for the speedy physical, emotional, and psychological recovery of the rescued victims.
