Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have recorded significant operational gains, including the neutralisation of terrorists, rescue of abducted civilians, and recovery of arms and explosive ordnance across the North-East theatre.
This was disclosed in a press statement issued on Friday by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba.
According to the statement, the successes were achieved under Operation DESERT SANITY and related missions, with troops maintaining sustained offensive actions against Boko Haram and ISWAP elements.
In coordinated offensives conducted in Valle, Ashigashiya, and Gakara areas, troops, supported by the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engaged suspected terrorists with superior firepower. Two insurgents were neutralised, while others fled towards the Ngoshe axis. No casualties were recorded among the troops.
Similarly, troops operating along the Bravo Kilo 10 axis intercepted and neutralised another insurgent, recovering a radio set and a mobile phone from the scene.
In a major rescue operation, troops along the Ngoshe–Amuda corridor successfully rescued an eight-year-old boy, Abubakar Mublagha, who was abducted during the March 3, 2026 attack on Ngoshe community. The child was medically examined and reunited with his family.
In a related development, troops operating around Uvaha village along the Gwoza–Limankara axis rescued a 20-year-old Fulani man, Dahiru Ahamdu, who had been abducted on May 8, 2026, in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State. The victim reportedly escaped following intense artillery bombardments on terrorist enclaves in the Mandara Mountains, which neutralised two insurgents and disrupted the hideout. He has since been reunited with his family.
Further operations at Buni Gari led to the recovery of a cache of abandoned explosives in the Magza area. Items recovered include four 40mm RPG bombs, one 81mm mortar bomb, and four 60mm mortar bombs, all safely secured by Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams.
Troops also arrested a suspected collaborator, Kuti Muhammad, identified as a CJTF member, over alleged links with terrorist elements. He is currently in custody undergoing investigation.
In Biu Local Government Area, troops responded swiftly to an armed robbery incident in Garin Gwigwi village, arresting three suspects. Recovered items include mobile phones, suspected illicit substances, charms, jewellery, cash, a dagger, a Quran booklet, and a locally made firearm. A stolen Dane gun was also recovered and returned to its rightful owner.
Additionally, troops in collaboration with local hunters apprehended four suspected cattle rustlers and terrorist collaborators at Kwaya Kusar Market, recovering six rustled cattle. The suspects are undergoing preliminary investigation.

The statement noted that troops across all operational areas remain vigilant and committed to sustaining offensive operations to deny terrorists freedom of action.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience, urging them to maintain momentum in the ongoing fight against terrorism to restore peace and socio-economic stability in the North-East region.
