A group led by Hon. Calistus Anyanwu on Monday in Abuja formally unveiled the Renewed Hope for Greater Nigeria (RHGN), a nationwide civic movement advocating sustained public support for the reform agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
At a world press conference held in the Federal Capital Territory, Anyanwu, described as the National Leader of the group, said the initiative was established to promote informed public engagement, encourage constructive national dialogue, and mobilise citizen participation in nation-building.
He emphasised that the RHGN is not driven by political patronage but by a commitment to evaluate leadership based on performance and tangible impact on citizens.
“The unveiling of RHGN is the unveiling of a conviction shared by millions of Nigerians—that our country has embarked on a difficult but necessary journey of national renewal, and that these reforms deserve sustained commitment,” he said.
The group highlighted key achievements of the current administration, noting progress in security, economic reforms, education, and infrastructure development. While acknowledging that security challenges persist, Anyanwu said coordinated military efforts have weakened criminal networks and restored stability in several communities.
He also pointed to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as a transformative initiative expanding access to higher education, describing it as a critical investment in human capital and national development.
On economic reforms, the group defended the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market, stating that such measures, though difficult, were necessary to correct longstanding distortions and lay the foundation for sustainable growth.
“History remembers leaders who made tough decisions when their nations needed them most. These reforms are not short-term fixes but long-term investments in Nigeria’s future,” Anyanwu stated.
The RHGN further commended ongoing infrastructure projects across the country, including road rehabilitation, rail expansion, and power sector improvements, describing them as evidence of a government committed to long-term national growth.
The group also lauded institutional reforms such as local government autonomy and the proposed establishment of state police, noting that these measures would deepen democracy and enhance grassroots governance and security.
According to Anyanwu, RHGN has already established structures across all geopolitical zones, states, local government areas, and wards, with plans to commence nationwide town hall meetings to engage citizens, explain government policies, and gather feedback.
“We seek conversation, not confrontation. We seek persuasion through facts, not propaganda,” he said, stressing the need for responsible public discourse and the rejection of misinformation.
The group called on Nigerians, particularly youths, women, traditional institutions, and the diaspora, to actively participate in shaping the country’s future through constructive engagement and national unity.

Reaffirming its core message, RHGN urged citizens to remain committed to ongoing reforms, warning against abandoning policies before their long-term benefits are realised.
“Our message is simple: let us move forward, not backward. Let us strengthen reform, not abandon it. Let us build a greater Nigeria together,” Anyanwu concluded.
