Tragedy struck in the Kuchibiyu Community of Bwari Area Council, Abuja, on Monday, January 6, 2025, when an object suspected to be a bomb exploded at an Islamiyyah school, killing one student and injuring four others.
According to Premium Times, the incident occurred around noon, shattering the calm of the community located approximately 42 kilometers from Abuja’s city center. The loud explosion reportedly sent shockwaves through the area, sparking widespread panic.
Emergency response teams, including the police bomb disposal unit, arrived promptly at the scene, while the injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
A security source revealed that the deceased student, whose identity remained unknown at the time of reporting, was allegedly carrying a substance believed to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) when it detonated.

The explosion injured other students and caused chaos within the school premises. Efforts to reach the school’s authorities for comment were unsuccessful, and the Federal Capital Territory Police Command had yet to release an official statement as of press time.
This incident has left the local community in shock, with many calling for enhanced security measures in schools to prevent similarities.
