A cabin crew member of United Nigeria Airlines, Miss Uche Francisca Ogbuagu, has been commended for her professionalism, composure and exceptional customer service in handling an unruly passenger during a recent flight.
The commendation was contained in a letter dated August 11, 2026, by the Chairman of Everight Diagnostic Ltd, Dr. Everest Okpara, and addressed to the management of United Nigeria Airlines.
In the letter titled, “Commendation for Exceptional Customer Service – Miss Uche Francisca Ogbuagu,” Okpara said he decided to formally recognise Ogbuagu after witnessing her manage a difficult encounter with a passenger who was extremely rude and unruly.
He said the incident, which arose over adherence to aviation rules, provided an opportunity for the crew member to demonstrate exceptional restraint and professionalism.
According to him, Ogbuagu remained calm throughout the encounter, maintained a respectful tone and continued to treat the passenger with courtesy despite the difficult circumstances.
Okpara said her conduct particularly impressed passengers seated nearby, noting that she did not allow the passenger’s behaviour to provoke an inappropriate response.
“What particularly stood out was her ability to remain focused on her responsibility to the passenger and to the airline’s policy, without allowing the passenger’s conduct to compromise the quality of her service,” he stated.
He added that Ogbuagu’s measured communication and courteous demeanour reflected a high level of emotional intelligence, self-control and maturity.
Okpara noted that such qualities were essential in the aviation industry, where cabin crew members serve as highly visible representatives of airlines and their conduct during difficult situations could significantly influence passengers’ perception of an organisation.
“As someone who regularly interacts with professionals across different service environments, I recognise that these qualities are not merely desirable in the aviation industry; they are fundamental to delivering a truly excellent customer experience,” he said.
He urged the management of United Nigeria Airlines to formally convey the commendation to Ogbuagu, stressing that employees who demonstrate exceptional professionalism should be recognised and encouraged.
