The Nigerian Senate has confirmed Joseph Tegbe and Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of Power and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, respectively, in a move seen as reinforcing the administration’s focus on energy sector reforms and citizen-driven foreign policy.
Their confirmation followed a screening exercise by lawmakers, where both nominees were evaluated on their experience, competence, and policy direction, paving the way for their inclusion in the cabinet of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
During the screening, Tegbe described the power sector as the backbone of Nigeria’s economy, pledging to pursue bold and decisive reforms to address longstanding challenges in electricity generation, transmission, and distribution.
On his part, Enikanolaiye, who will serve under the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu, emphasised the importance of placing Nigerians at the centre of the country’s foreign policy. He assured lawmakers of his commitment to supporting diplomatic initiatives that promote national interest and protect citizens abroad.

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, commended the appointments, expressing confidence that the nominees’ wealth of experience would translate into improved performance in their respective ministries.
The confirmations are expected to strengthen the federal government’s efforts to revitalise critical sectors and enhance Nigeria’s global engagement.
