FG Pledges Sustainable Partnership with Nigerian Society of Engineers to Deliver Durable Infrastructure
The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration with the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) to deliver world-class infrastructure capable of standing the test of time across the country.
The Honourable Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, stated this on Tuesday at the investiture of Engr. Alimasuya Rabiu as the 35th President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
In a statement issued by his Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity, Terhemen Oraduen, Prof. Utsev said the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recognises the NSE as a critical stakeholder in national development, noting that engineers have been entrusted with overseeing key technical ministries, departments and agencies where they are making significant impacts.
According to the minister, the Federal Government has deliberately engaged competent engineers to handle major national projects, including the total rehabilitation and upgrade of the Alau Dam in Borno State, as well as other strategic water and road infrastructure projects across the country.
Prof. Utsev congratulated the new NSE President, Engr. Rabiu, expressing confidence in his leadership capacity, citing his previous service to the Society as a three-time Vice President and his contributions to national development in various capacities. He also commended women engineers for their outstanding contributions to the profession.
The minister further congratulated the immediate past President of the NSE, Engr. Aina Oguntala, for making history as the Society’s first female president since its establishment, describing her tenure as a landmark achievement.
He urged the NSE to continue deploying its professional expertise in support of the Tinubu administration’s efforts to reposition the country and improve the quality of life of Nigerians through sustainable infrastructure development.

In his acceptance speech, the 35th President of the NSE, Engr. Alimasuya Rabiu, said his leadership would focus on “resetting” the Society, pledging to lead with integrity, restore institutional relevance and reposition the NSE as a beacon of excellence both nationally and globally.
The event featured goodwill messages from the immediate past president of the Society and other eminent Nigerians.
