
Ajaokuta steel plant
The Federal Government has ordered for fresh of Ajaokuta Steel Plant, restated its commitment to reviving the Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited (ASCL), assuring Nigerians that the plant remains central to the nation’s industrialization drive.
In a statement issued Thursday by Salamatu Jibaniya, Head of Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Steel Development, the government said a comprehensive technical and financial audit of ASCL is currently underway to guide transparent and data-driven decisions on its future.
The ministry explained that findings from a previous audit in 2018 showed the steel plant was in generally robust condition, except for the deterioration of replaceable parts, and recommended automation of manual systems to boost efficiency.

“The Federal Government is determined to build a competitive and modern steel industry that supports national industrialization and infrastructure growth,” the statement noted.
The ministry expressed confidence that the fresh audit would provide a solid basis for decisive action to advance Nigeria’s steel and manufacturing sector.
