LAGOS, Nigeria – The Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) has launched the rehabilitation and replacement of aging distribution networks in four mini/micro waterworks—Apapa I & II, Magodo I & II, Alexander I & II, and Magodo III & Isolo—in a renewed push to expand access to potable water across the state.
The initiative, officially flagged off on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Corporation’s headquarters in Ijora, marks a key phase in LWC’s strategy to modernize infrastructure and improve service delivery.
Speaking at the event, LWC Managing Director, Engr. Mukhtaar Temitope Tijani, represented by the Executive Director of Operations, Engr. (Mrs.) Helen Omolanke Taiwo, said the project was critical to strengthening water distribution capacity.
“These networks have exceeded their service life and must be replaced. This rehabilitation is designed to enhance operational capability, increase service levels, and ultimately improve access to potable water for Lagos residents,” she said.
The contracts were awarded following due procurement procedures under Lagos State guidelines. The implementing firms are:
FBS Construction Engineering Services Ltd. – Magodo I & II
Serock Services Ltd. – Alexander I & II
Conswealth Nigeria Ltd. – Magodo III & Isolo
Northcross Energy Ltd. – Apapa I & II
Government Backing
The Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget, represented by Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Mr. Fuad Oyede, assured close monitoring to ensure deadlines are met. Similarly, the Office of Infrastructure pledged full collaboration but requested detailed designs and schedules for oversight.

Timeline and Expectations
The rehabilitation is scheduled for completion within six months. Engr. Taiwo emphasized that similar projects in Abesan and Baruwa had significantly improved distribution, expressing confidence in replicating those results.
She formally presented the project designs to the contractors and congratulated them, stressing that the works were undertaken “with the purpose of prosperity for Lagosians.”
