The Yobe State Hisbah Commission, in a coordinated joint security operation, has carried out a major raid in Walawa community, Garin-Alkali, Bursari Local Government Area, leading to multiple arrests and large-scale seizures.
Executive Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Yahuza Hamza, disclosed on Monday that the raid was part of ongoing efforts to tackle immoral and anti-social activities undermining the moral fabric of the state.
According to him, the operation resulted in the confiscation of a “large consignment of alcohol, equivalent to four truckloads, alongside the arrest of 84 persons—50 women and 34 men—engaged in prostitution.”
He revealed that all houses linked to the illegal activities have been sealed, while the suspects are in custody and will be prosecuted in accordance with Yobe State laws.

Dr. Hamza emphasized that the Commission remains resolute in upholding morality through Islamic and cultural values by combating prostitution, gambling, alcoholism, and drug abuse, while also safeguarding the dignity of women and children.
He further urged the public to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and supportive of security agencies in the collective effort to sustain peace and moral order.
