……Lauds Journalist Alli as Media Director
A newly established women support group under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alliance of All Progressives Congress Groups, has appointed Hon. Mrs. Regina Akume as its Grand Matron. Mrs. Akume is a member of the House of Representatives and the wife of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume.
The announcement was made during a courtesy visit by the group to Mrs. Akume in Abuja, led by its Director General, Dr. Philomena Abieyuwa Eriyo. Dr. Eriyo, who also serves as Special Assistant to the APC National Women Leader, had earlier proposed that the investiture ceremony take place at the honouree’s office. However, Mrs. Akume requested that the event be held at home in the presence of her husband.
“I want to be honoured in the presence of my husband, so let it take place at his residence,” she said.
The group warmly accepted the request, describing it as a reflection of deep-rooted African values and respect for family traditions.
As part of its leadership appointments, the Alliance named seasoned journalist and publisher, Malam Abdul-Hameed Oladipupo Alli, as Director of Media Services and Justice Advocate. The group said Alli’s appointment was in recognition of his longstanding contributions to gender advocacy, his journalistic commitment to women’s issues, and his consistent promotion of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Alliance of APC Groups aims to amplify women’s voices within the political space, promote gender equity, and mobilize support for President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.
