The Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA) has announced that the second edition of the Nigeria Auto Industry Summit (NAISU) will focus on strengthening local content development as a cornerstone for the growth and sustainability of Nigeria’s automotive sector.
Organised in collaboration with the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), the Nigeria Association of Automotive Manufacturers (NAMA), and the African Association of Automobile Manufacturers (AAAM), the summit will take place on Thursday, July 31, at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Conference Centre, Alausa, Ikeja.
Held under the theme “Nigeria First: Local Content as Catalyst for Automotive Economy,” the summit will also reflect on the Federal Government’s recently launched Nigeria’s First initiative and the promotion of locally assembled vehicles.
The event is expected to bring together key stakeholders across government, industry, and media—including policymakers, regulators, manufacturers, traders, and customs officials—to develop actionable strategies for transitioning Nigeria from an import-reliant auto market to a self-sustaining manufacturing ecosystem.
The Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole, will formally declare the event open. The Director-General of NADDC, Joseph Oluwemimo Osanipin, will serve as Chief Host.
Speaking ahead of the summit, Mike Ochonma, Chairman of the NAISU Planning Committee, emphasized the critical importance of embedding local content into Nigeria’s industrial agenda.
“We are bringing regulators, customs officers, manufacturers, traders, and journalists into one room to foster synergy and policy cohesion,” he said.
“Local content is not just a policy slogan—it is the backbone of job creation, skills development, and economic independence. NAISU 2025 challenges us to look inward for sustainable solutions.”
