As part of preparations for the 2025 Hajj exercise, the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs has met with the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman on Pilgrimage tours.
The closed-door meeting took place on Tuesday in Abuja and was chaired by Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero, who represented Senator Mohammed Sani Bello, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs. After several hours of deliberation, Senator Aliero briefed the press, offering insights into the key issues discussed.
He stated that the meeting focused on the comprehensive planning and smooth execution of the 2025 Hajj. “We want to ensure a hitch-free Hajj exercise,” Aliero said. “The chairman has briefed us on the progress so far, and we are satisfied with the level of preparedness. Everything is on course to ensure the 2025 Hajj is conducted without any issues.”

Addressing concerns related to pilgrims’ welfare and logistics, Senator Aliero noted that all potential challenges were thoroughly discussed. He added that the NAHCON chairman assured the committee that adequate arrangements are in place to prevent any disruptions or lapses.
On the issue of past shortcomings in tour operations, the senator emphasized that the committee is focused on the present. “It is not our intention to dwell on last year’s challenges,” he said. “We are committed to ensuring that the 2025 Hajj is successfully executed, and all necessary steps are being taken to that effect.”
