ABUJA — Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued a kidnapped victim in Kaduna State and repelled a terrorist attack in Sokoto State, neutralising one terrorist during subsequent operations.
The military said the operations were part of sustained efforts to deny terrorists freedom of action and improve security across the North-West.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of Sector 1 responded to a distress call on August 20 following the abduction of a 43-year-old man around Awon Community in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The troops swiftly moved into the area and pursued the terrorists into surrounding bushes, forcing them to abandon the victim and flee.
The rescued man was subsequently reunited with his family.
In a separate operation on August 21, troops of Sector 2, working alongside local security elements, responded to a terrorist attack on Kwaren Gamba Village in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The troops engaged the attackers and forced them to withdraw in disarray. During the subsequent pursuit, one terrorist was neutralised.
Items recovered from the scene included two mobile phones, cash, an ATM card, recharge cards and other personal effects.

The Theatre Command said Operation FANSAN YAMMA would sustain the tempo of ongoing operations to tackle terrorist activities across its area of responsibility.
It reassured residents that troops would continue to respond decisively to emerging threats and urged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to security agencies to support efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace and security.
