The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I Jibrin, has announced the commencement of applications for postgraduate international scholarships in Artificial Intelligence, Forensic, and Robotics Sciences through his foundation, the Barau I Jibrin Foundation (BIJF).
Dedicated to fostering humanitarian, educational, and empowerment initiatives nationwide, the Secretary of the Scholarship Committee of the BIJF, Dr. Maikudi Lawan, highlighted the selection of these three specialized fields to equip individuals with advanced skills.
The scholarship program aims to cultivate academic excellence and provide support to deserving candidates from the Kano North Senatorial District.
The prospective applicants are required to choose from three distinct programs: M.Tech. (Information Security & Cyber Forensic), M.Tech. (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning), and M.Tech. (Robotics Sciences).
The foundation has narrowed down the scholarship offerings to these specific fields as part of its commitment to bolstering the country’s technological progress.
“We are setting a higher standard by granting postgraduate scholarships in these specialized areas to impart essential expertise to our youth. Upon completion of their studies, the beneficiaries will emerge as professionals and specialists in these domains, thereby contributing significantly to the technological advancement of our nation,” he stated.
The program is anticipated to span approximately 18 months, with the projected graduation year set for 2026.
The deadline for submitting applications is scheduled for July 30, 2024.
It is worth noting that the Deputy President of the Senate had previously declared his intention on December 1 last year to sponsor postgraduate scholarships for underprivileged students from the Kano North Senatorial District who have attained First Class honors.
This commitment was announced during his meeting with the leadership of the Students Union Government (SUG) of Bayero University Kano (BUK) at the National Assembly. He pledged to support students in pursuing studies in Artificial Intelligence, Forensics, Robotics Sciences, and related fields at the postgraduate level.
