In an inspiring demonstration of grassroots-driven impact, the Sabi Recycling Project, powered by African Cleanup Initiative and supported by ACT Foundation has emerged as a beacon of transformation across the communities in Ajeromi-Ifelodun LGA and Ifelodun LCDA, Lagos State.
Sabi Recycling Project is an eco-friendly solution where men, women, and youths in 11 communities are aware of recycling, sort their waste from source, and are empowered to meet basic needs while reducing plastic pollution in the community.
With an astonishing 400,086kg of recyclables recovered, this project is not just cleaning the environment—it is changing lives, building sustainable habits, and igniting a new culture of environmental responsibility. Over 6,000 individuals have been indirectly empowered through the project, while another 2130 men, women, and youths have been positively impacted directly. These numbers represent more than statistics; they are a testament to the strength of community, the power of innovation, and the urgency of climate action.
The Sabi Recycling Project is about more than waste—it is about worth. It is a celebration of communities rising to reclaim their spaces, their voices, and their future.
