President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has established a Presidential Committee on Climate Action and Green Economic Solutions to oversee the implementation of climate and green economic initiatives, appointing Chief Ajuri Ngelale as the Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action.
Chief Ngelale’s role within the committee, chaired by the President, will involve coordinating and supervising policies and programs related to climate action and green economic development.
The committee aims to enhance coordination, adopt a comprehensive approach to climate action programs, establish an effective governance structure, and ensure that all relevant institutions align with the President’s vision and work collectively to implement the Renewed Hope Agenda on climate action.
The committee consists of prominent individuals, President Ahmed Tinubu as Chairman and Minister of Environment Balarabe Abbas Lawal as Vice-Chairman, and CEOs of various organizations as members. Their responsibilities include identifying and executing innovative climate action initiatives, aligning federal institutions towards climate action objectives, collaborating with governmental and non-governmental bodies, and monitoring progress on renewable energy projects.
Chief Ngelale, in addition to his role as the President’s Official Spokesperson and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, will play a crucial role in the committee’s efforts. President Tinubu’s dedication to achieving Nigeria’s green economy goals and attracting investments in the energy sector remains unwavering.
