THE Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the deaths of three individuals following a violent clash between farmers and herders in the state.
The state’s Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Nadada, disclosed this during a press briefing on Thursday in Lafia. He explained that the incident occurred on Monday in Dogon Duste, a community located between the Nasarawa and Toto Local Government Areas.
“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) received a report about the clash at approximately 4:30 p.m. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered that two people had been killed on a farm, while four others who sustained injuries were rushed to a primary healthcare center for treatment,” Nadada stated.
During a subsequent search operation, police found another corpse in the nearby bush, bringing the total number of fatalities to three.
The commissioner assured the public that calm has been restored to the area. He emphasized that the police are working diligently to investigate the incident and apprehend those responsible, ensuring they face justice.
“We are collaborating with the community to identify and arrest the perpetrators. I urge residents to maintain strong cooperation with security agencies to sustain peace and security in the state,” he said.
Nadada underscored that protecting lives and property is a shared responsibility, calling on residents to support the police in addressing security challenges. He revealed that the command has developed a comprehensive action plan based on a detailed analysis of crime trends in the state.

He further noted the progress made in combating insecurity, attributing the success to strong collaboration with the public and the state government. “Nasarawa is considered one of the most peaceful states in the country due to this collaborative strategy, and we appeal for its continued support,” he added.
The commissioner reiterated the police command’s commitment to ensuring safety and maintaining order in Nasarawa State.
