…praises the citizens of Kogi for upholding peace throughout the state
The Honorable Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, has implored Nigerians to cease the nationwide protest against the current government, assuring the populace that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR is fervently striving to rectify the prevailing challenges in the country.
Prince Audu conveyed this plea in a statement released by his Special Assistant Media, Lizzy Okoji, on Friday in Abuja, urging citizens to exercise patience and place their trust in the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of President Tinubu.
The Honorable Minister emphasized that the policies of the current administration encompass strategic plans and measures that will propel Nigeria towards economic prosperity, enhanced welfare, education and healthcare systems, improved social infrastructure, food security, and infrastructural advancement, among other vital needs once implemented.
Highlighting President Tinubu’s accomplishments in slightly over a year in office, Prince Audu assured Nigerians that their expectations of good governance will be met before the conclusion of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR’s first term.
“I beseech my fellow Nigerians to kindly suspend the nationwide protests against the current administration and engage in dialogue to address all our concerns and expectations from the President Tinubu-led government.
“The President has consistently demonstrated his concern for the welfare of Nigerians, recently implementing the N70,000 minimum wage for workers, spearheading the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative with CNG vehicles to alleviate the impact of fuel subsidy removal, thus reducing transportation costs by up to 70 percent.
“In response to the challenges faced by the populace amidst ongoing reforms, President Tinubu authorized the provision of N50,000 uplift grants to over 100,000 families per state for three months, benefiting nearly 5 million families nationwide. My colleague, the Honorable Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari, under the directive of the President, has assured Nigerians of a decline in food prices within 180 days, with strategic measures being implemented to address the current high food prices affecting the nation. 250,000 metric tonnes of wheat and maize are being imported, with these semi-processed commodities set to be distributed to small-scale processors and millers nationwide.
“Furthermore, in strengthening the healthcare sector, the President has mandated the redesign of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund, attracting $2.5 dollars in financing for National Primary Health Care to ensure improved healthcare access for citizens.
“My colleagues and I at the Cabinet level, under the visionary leadership of the President across all sectors, have been tirelessly working to implement various policies within our respective mandates to realize the Renewed Hope Agenda and foster a better Nigeria for all. Many of these projects have already come to fruition.
“In the steel sector, the ongoing reforms aimed at revitalizing our steel plants will generate over 500,000 direct and indirect jobs, while attracting Foreign Direct Investments to foster economic growth and diversification,” Prince Audu affirmed.
The Honorable Minister further implored Nigerians to refrain from participating in the protest following intelligence reports from security and law enforcement agencies indicating plans by miscreants to hijack the protest and incite chaos and lawlessness nationwide.
He lauded the people of Kogi State for abstaining from the protest and instead opting for dialogue and cooperative efforts with the All Progressive Congress (APC)-led state government, which is fulfilling its campaign promises and delivering dividends of democracy to the people of Kogi.
