The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) has announced that the trial operation of the Omibus ferry will commence on July 29th.
Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel, the General Manager of LASWA, made this statement in Lagos on Friday.
“We are delighted to introduce the Omibus pilot program starting from July 29th. This initiative, spearheaded by the Ministry of Transportation and LASWA, aims to transform waterway transportation in Lagos. We invite you to participate in a week of testing our Omibus ferries, gathering crucial data, and raising public awareness about the future of waterway commuting in Lagos,” he stated.
Emmanuel outlined the schedule for the pilot program as follows: “Morning trips from Ikorodu – Ebute Ero – CMS will depart from Ikorodu at 7:00 a.m. Ikorodu – Victoria Island (Addax) – Falomo will also depart from Ikorodu at 7:00 a.m.
Additionally, Badore – Victoria Island (Addax) – Falomo will have a departure time of 7:00 a.m. from Badore.
For evening trips: CMS – Ikorodu will depart from CMS at 4:30 p.m. Falomo – Ikorodu will depart from Falomo at 5:30 p.m., while Falomo – Badore will depart from Falomo at 5:30 p.m.
Passengers will have the opportunity to experience the Omibus ferries firsthand during the pilot phase. Payment is required through the use of the Cowry Card, with passengers simply needing to tap in with their Cowry card to board.
