
President Bola Tinubu has emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in nation-building, urging legislators and Nigerians to reject any form of oppression.
Speaking at his Oyinkan Abayomi Drive residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, during a New Year homage, on Wednesday in press statement through the Bayo Onanuga special Adviser to the president. The president declared: “It is for us to build a nation. We have confidence and competence.
“The enslavers want us to be anything but free, but we say no. We are capable, we are resolute, and we will take Nigeria to the Promised Land with you.”
The visit, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, included Vice President Kashim Shettima, National Assembly leaders, and former principal officers. Members of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) also paid a similar visit.
President Tinubu expressed gratitude for the National Assembly’s support over the last 19 months, stating that their collaboration has been pivotal in advancing the administration’s goals. He remarked: “Nigerians are at the heart of everything we are doing. We have come to serve. Your visit today has made my day. Happy New Year. May God bless you, our country, and bring greater prosperity to our nation.
“The transformative journey we have embarked on is for all of us—for our tomorrow and the future generation. Your commitment will bear fruit for the babies yet unborn. Together, we will nurture the spirit of ‘can do’ and ‘must do’ to achieve our collective goals.”
Acknowledging the improved unity and achievements of the National Assembly, Senate President Akpabio commended the President’s unwavering support. He noted:
“The National Assembly today is more united and fulfilled than ever. Every request we have brought to your attention has been met with positive action. This is historic and commendable. Your administration has also brought relief to the poor. While 2023 began with challenges, the year ended with increased food availability and prosperity. By 2025, we believe every Nigerian will be proud of this administration.”
President Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment to leading Nigeria to greater heights, emphasizing that the success of his administration depends on collective resolve and dedication.
