The Honourable Minister of State for Environment, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako has pledged a partnership with the Federal University of Petroleum Resource, Effurun in Delta State to address the environmental issues facing the nation.
Dr. Salako made this commitment while welcoming the delegation from the University, headed by the Vice-chancellor, Prof. Akpofura Rim-Rukeh during a courtesy visit to the Ministry in Abuja.
The Minister mentioned that the National Policy on Environment established in 2006 acknowledges the importance of collaborating with academia, as research-based evidence and interventions are crucial.
Salako disclosed that the Ministry of Environment is keen on collaborating with FUPR after carefully reviewing the areas of interest outlined in their proposals.
In his presentation, Prof. Akpofura Rim-Rukeh, the Vice Chancellor of FUPR, reiterated their commitment to assisting the Ministry in advancing its activities leveraging their expertise.
Prof. Akpofura highlighted that FUPR, being a specialized research-oriented institution, is eager to establish an environmental center for training and research following global best practices to address environmental challenges nationwide in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR’s current administration.
