Former Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn Boshe has commended the Olusegun Obasanjo Leadership Institute (OOLI) for its innovative leadership programmes that are strengthening cross-continental partnerships and fostering transformative leadership in Africa.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Lagos by OOLI’s Media Consultant, Prof. Elvis Otobo, Boshe’s remarks came during a courtesy visit to the institute, where he praised its curriculum for combining ethical stewardship with scenario-based training to address Africa’s pressing governance and development challenges.
“The OOLI’s model for leadership development is a game-changer for Africa. Through its strong academic foundations, practical simulations, and a pan-African network, the institute raises the bar for public service and corporate governance both across Africa and worldwide,” Boshe said.
The statement emphasized OOLI’s growing reputation as a catalyst for ethical and transformative leadership, highlighting its role in equipping leaders to tackle poverty, conflict, and systemic inequality.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, OOLI’s Founder and Patron, personally welcomed Boshe, reaffirming the institute’s mission to groom a new generation of leaders capable of driving sustainable development and inclusive governance across the continent.
“OOLI empowers leaders to champion cross-border collaboration, leveraging networks and resources that resonate from local communities to international platforms,” Obasanjo noted.

Prof. Adedeji Daramola, OOLI’s Deputy Chief Executive, revealed that the institute aims to scale its signature executive workshops to leadership cohorts in over 30 African nations while forging new partnerships in Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
A highlight of the visit was the presentation of OOLI’s newly launched brochure and 10-year vision roadmap by Daramola, on behalf of CEO Gen. Martin Luther Agwai (rtd). The roadmap outlines plans to deepen OOLI’s reach, collaborate with UN agencies, and integrate virtual reality technology for immersive training in conflict resolution, sustainable development, and digital transformation.
