In Saudi Arabia reports indicate the crescent moon has been sighted which signifies the commencement of the Holy month, Ramadan tomorrow Monday, March 11, 2023, as the taraweeh prayers start tonight.
The moon, according to the Saudi Arabia Supreme Court, was sighted on Sunday evening, signaling the kickoff of the Ramadan fasting.
Recall that the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Saa’d Abubakar III, who is also the President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) had charged faithful to be on the lookout for the moon.
The moon sighting before Ramadan, also known as Ramzan, is a practice that is an essential aspect of the Islamic faith as it determines the commencement of the month of fasting from dawn until sunset along with acts of charity and worship.
Fasting during Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam during which they abstain from eating, drinking and other unlawful things according to Islam laws.
