In the aftermath of the widespread flood that caused destruction in various parts of Borno State, the North East Development Commission (NEDC) has committed to collaborating with relevant Government Agencies to provide immediate relief assistance to the victims of the calamity following a thorough evaluation of the devastating floods.
This dedication follows an assessment expedition of the affected regions carried out by the Commission’s Management team led by the Managing Director, Mohammed Goni Alkali on Tuesday.
The team visited different locations in Maiduguri, the State Capital, where they conveyed their condolences to the victims and promised to deliver timely humanitarian aid to those impacted.
As an interim solution, the Commission will work in conjunction with the State Government and NEMA to offer temporary assistance to the victims while awaiting a comprehensive investigation and evaluation of the situation.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer described the incident as unfortunate and advised residents of flood-prone areas to exercise utmost caution and avoid such locations for their own safety.
