Anambra Gov’t Congratulates Orakwe on Amanuke Town Union Election Victory

The Anambra State Government has congratulated the people of Amanuke Community in Awka North Local Government Area on the successful conduct of their town union election, which produced Simon-Ikechukwu Orakwe as the new President General.

The commendation was conveyed by the Commissioner for Local Government, Community Affairs and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Tonycollins Nwabunwanne, in a formal letter recognising the victory of the Orakwe-led executive following the election held on January 31, 2026.

Nwabunwanne described the Amanuke Development Union election, conducted at the Union Primary School Field, as free, fair and credible, noting that it reflected the democratic will of the community. Orakwe emerged winner after contesting against Mr. Odogwu Emeka Odogwu, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council.

In the letter, the commissioner affirmed the state government’s official recognition of the newly elected officers, stating: “I hereby certify that the underlisted elected officers are the bona fide executive members recognised by the Anambra State Government with effect from January 31, 2026.”

The recognised executive members include Simon-Ikechukwu Orakwe as President General; Godwin Nwandibe, Deputy President General; Okechukwu Agbata, Secretary General; and Christopher Nwoye, Assistant Secretary General. Others are Francis Alagbuna, Treasurer; Uchechukwu Nnamezie, Financial Secretary; Obinna Nwankwo, Social Welfare Officer; Hyacinth Okafor, Public Relations Officer; Charles Nnanwube, Provost I; and Chigozie Ekulide, Provost II.

Nwabunwanne stated that the tenure of the executive committee would last for three years, running from January 31, 2026 to January 31, 2029, urging the leadership to work in unity and in line with the development aspirations of Amanuke community.

He further congratulated the new executives and wishing them a successful tenure in office.
