The North Forum Senators has urged the President and Commander in Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces and of course the Chairman of ECOWAS, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu as a matter of humanitarian gesture to restore electricity supply to Niger Republic in line with the Nigeria-Niger treaty mandate.
Senator Abdul Ningi representing Bauch Central senatorial district said the forum strongly condemned the spate of Military intervention in the democratic spaces in the West African subregion.
This was said in a communique issued by the Northern Senators Forum at the end of its meeting to the press on Tuesday at National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
Ningi, therefore called on Nigerians and Nigerien to remember that they remain brothers, partners and Africans and above all, we remain human beings
The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) condemns in very strong terms the spate of military intervention in the democratic space in the West African sub-region. The NSF also condemns in strong terms, the coup in Niger Republic.
The NSF urges the military junta in Niger Republic to soften the relationship with the rest of ECOWAS Community by setting free President Mohammed Bazoh and his immediate family to free the country of his choice.
The NSF further urged the junta in Niger to bring about a transition timetable that will last not more than two (2) years.
The NSF urges the ECOWAS to lift restrictions on Niger Republic in the interest of business and border communities.
It is important that Nigerien should not suffer because of the coup that took place just as we have seen in Gaza. .
We therefore call on the attention of Nigerians that we remain brothers, partners, Africans and above all, we remain human beings.
