The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has called on Islamic organisations and other Nigerian groups to honour Alhaji Rafiu Adisa Ebiti for his contributions to philanthropy, youth empowerment and educational development.
The organisation said Ebiti, the Deputy President I of the Muslim Ummah of South West Nigeria (MUSWEN), had demonstrated exemplary leadership through his commitment to addressing the socio-economic challenges confronting Muslims, particularly young people.
MURIC’s Founder and Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, made the call in a statement issued on Thursday, October 22, 2026, following Ebiti’s appointment as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Crescent University, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and the conferment of an honorary Doctor of Science degree in Business Administration on him.
The honours were conferred during the university’s 18th convocation ceremony held on Saturday, October 17, at the Bola Ajibola Auditorium.
Congratulating Ebiti on the appointment and honorary degree, MURIC described him as a selfless leader whose philanthropic activities and commitment to community development had made a significant impact on the Muslim community in South-West Nigeria.
The organisation said the university had made the right choice in appointing Ebiti, citing his leadership qualities, commitment to education and dedication to improving the welfare of the Muslim Ummah.
According to MURIC, Ebiti has consistently supported Muslim youths and demonstrated a leadership style that prioritises the collective interests of the community rather than personal or family interests.
The group further described him as a pragmatic Muslim leader who focuses on finding lasting solutions to the socio-economic problems confronting the Ummah instead of merely complaining about them.
It said his philanthropic contributions had distinguished him among Muslim benefactors in the South-West, adding that he treats the challenges facing the community as personal responsibilities.
MURIC described Ebiti as the “epitome of Islamic philanthropy” and the “heartbeat of the Ummah in Yorubaland,” noting that his contributions to humanitarian causes and institutional development deserved wider recognition.
The organisation also congratulated Crescent University on its 18th convocation, commending the institution for recognising Ebiti’s contributions to education, philanthropy and leadership.

MURIC maintained that its commendation was based on observations of Ebiti’s activities over the years, insisting that the recognition was not merely a ceremonial tribute.
The organisation urged Islamic groups and other institutions that value integrity, sacrifice and responsible leadership to recognise and celebrate individuals whose contributions promote community development.
