The Federal Government of Nigeria has called for the immediate de-escalation of rising tensions between the Houthi militia in Yemen and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, warning that continued hostilities could undermine regional peace and endanger civilian lives.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigeria expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict and reported attacks, urging all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and refrain from actions capable of aggravating the situation.
The statement, signed by Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abuja, emphasised the need for dialogue and diplomacy, calling on the conflicting sides to adopt peaceful resolution mechanisms in line with international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.

According to the statement, further escalation poses significant risks to regional security and stability, with far-reaching humanitarian consequences for civilians caught in the crossfire.
Nigeria reaffirmed its commitment to the peaceful resolution of disputes and expressed readiness to support all genuine efforts aimed at reducing tensions and restoring stability in the region.
