Rt. Hon. Kingsley Chinda has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections, securing a decisive victory in the party’s primaries.
Chairman of the APC Gubernatorial and House of Assembly Primaries Committee, Rt. Hon. Laori Kwamoti, declared Chinda winner after he polled 268,497 valid votes, meeting all constitutional and party requirements to clinch the ticket.
Chinda, a former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, contested as the sole candidate after other aspirants withdrew or stepped down from the race, a development party officials said contributed to a smooth and unified process.
Earlier in the day, the candidate voted in his Elelenwo hometown amid a large turnout of party supporters who overwhelmingly endorsed his candidacy.
In his acceptance remarks, Chinda pledged to govern Rivers State with the fear of God, uphold the rule of law, and ensure accountability in governance.
He expressed appreciation to fellow party members who stepped down from the contest, describing their actions as a contribution to the credibility and harmony of the process. He also thanked party leaders for their confidence in his candidacy.

The APC flag bearer further promised an inclusive administration anchored on his campaign theme, “I win, you win,” emphasizing teamwork and collective decision-making.
“It is going to be a teamwork. The party will sit down and chart the course forward,” he said.
