The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the list of House of Representatives aspirants who failed to secure clearance to participate in the party’s forthcoming primary elections, signalling a decisive step in its candidate selection process nationwide.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said the affected aspirants had taken part in the screening exercise but were not cleared by the party’s screening committees in line with established procedures and guidelines.
The party emphasised that the screening exercise was conducted thoroughly across all constituencies, with committees mandated to assess aspirants based on eligibility criteria and internal party regulations.
According to the statement, only the names of aspirants who were not cleared have been published, while those not listed are deemed to have successfully passed the screening process and are eligible to contest in the House of Representatives primary elections.
“This means if a name is not on the list, such an aspirant has been fully cleared,” the statement clarified, underscoring that the published document represents only the disqualified candidates.
The development is expected to shape the internal dynamics of the party ahead of the primaries, as cleared aspirants intensify campaigns while those disqualified may seek redress through party mechanisms.
The APC’s move is part of broader preparations for the legislative elections, with party officials maintaining that adherence to due process remains critical to ensuring credible and transparent primaries.
