Nigeria’s domestic aviation industry recorded a significant milestone on Monday as Binani Air successfully operated its first commercial flight to Lagos, marking a critical step in the airline’s expansion strategy and efforts to boost connectivity across the country.
The inaugural flight, which departed Abuja amid enthusiasm from passengers and aviation stakeholders, landed smoothly in Lagos, with travellers praising the airline’s punctuality, professionalism and quality onboard service.
Speaking ahead of the departure, the Group President of Binani Air described the Lagos route as a strategic move in the airline’s broader vision to establish a dependable, customer-focused indigenous carrier.
She noted that the new operation goes beyond route expansion, positioning the airline as a key contributor to economic growth, improved business mobility and national integration through efficient air transport services.
“Today’s flight to Lagos represents more than an expansion of routes; it reflects our commitment to connecting people, businesses and opportunities across Nigeria. We are building an airline founded on safety, discipline, professionalism and service excellence,” she said.
The Group President also expressed appreciation to passengers for their early confidence in the airline, assuring that safety and customer satisfaction would remain central to its operations.
Also speaking, the Chairperson, Ashatu Dahiru Binani, emphasized that the airline is aligned with the Federal Government’s economic agenda, particularly in enhancing transportation infrastructure and encouraging private sector participation in aviation.
She commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for policies supporting industry growth, stressing the need for sustained collaboration between regulators and operators.
Describing Lagos as a critical commercial hub, Binani said the route represents a major milestone in the airline’s growth trajectory, reaffirming its commitment to global best practices, safety compliance and service excellence.
Passengers on the flight expressed satisfaction with the overall travel experience, highlighting the airline’s efficiency and organization.
A business traveller noted the seamless check-in and boarding process, while another passenger commended the professionalism of the crew and the smooth coordination of the flight.

Airline officials at both Abuja and Lagos stations said the introduction of the Lagos route is expected to expand travel options, while supporting commerce, tourism and regional integration nationwide.
