Troops of the Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised several terrorists following a precision airstrike on a high-level gathering of insurgent leaders in Zamfara State.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said the operation targeted a strategic meeting of notorious terrorist commanders drawn from across the West African sub-region.
According to the statement, intelligence reports revealed that the terrorists had assembled at a concealed location in Tumfa Village, Shinkafi Local Government Area. The hideout, described as a structure hidden within dense vegetation and shielded by mango trees along a stream channel, was reportedly used to coordinate attacks against communities in the North West.
Acting on the intelligence, troops under Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with the Air Component, carried out a precision airstrike on the location. The strike destroyed the building serving as the meeting point, while a Battle Damage Assessment confirmed that several terrorists were neutralised.
The statement added that surviving fighters fled the scene in disarray, as further aerial surveillance detected movements of suspected associates attempting to evacuate casualties.
