Abuja, Nigeria — Tension briefly flared in the Senate on Wednesday as Senate President Godswill Akpabio issued a stern warning to Senator Adams Oshiomhole, cautioning him to adhere strictly to the rules governing proceedings or risk being removed from the chamber.
This followed, after senator Oshiomhole was ruled out of point of order during the session of deliberation of the Senate Standing Rules.
Akpabio, who presided over the session, did not mince words as he addressed Oshiomhole during plenary, emphasizing that compliance with Senate procedures is mandatory for all lawmakers.
“Senator Adams Oshiomhole, this is the last warning, or else we will use the rules to take you out of the chamber,” the Senate President declared.
He further stressed that participation in Senate activities goes beyond formalities such as obtaining nomination forms, insisting that members must demonstrate discipline and respect for parliamentary regulations.

“It is not just about buying a form, but about following the rules of the Senate,” he added.
The incident underscores ongoing concerns about decorum and order within the upper legislative chamber, as presiding officers continue to enforce compliance with established procedures to ensure smooth legislative business.
