Lagos, Nigeria – Chrisland Schools Ltd. has awarded scholarships to 14 exceptional pupils as part of its annual initiative to promote academic excellence and reward outstanding performance.
Speaking at the Annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony held in Lagos on Friday, the Managing Director, Ibijoke Adeyemi, said the programme was designed to celebrate diligence, hard work, and excellence among learners.
According to Adeyemi, the beneficiaries distinguished themselves in both the entrance examination and a highly competitive scholarship test.
> “We are here to celebrate hard work, diligence and success. These pupils have excelled in their examinations, and we are very proud of them.
This is just the beginning of greater achievements for them,” she said.
She noted that the scholarship scheme, which began over 30 years ago, has evolved from recognising only the overall best candidate to accommodating more pupils across the school’s branches.
Adeyemi explained that the introduction of a second-stage scholarship test became necessary due to the increasing number of candidates recording similar scores in the entrance examination.
She also commended parents and teachers for their vital roles in nurturing the pupils’ success.
Also speaking, the Executive Head of Schools (Communications and Business Development), Olajide Onigbogi, described the scholarship initiative as part of the institution’s corporate social responsibility.
Onigbogi disclosed that the school receives between 500 and 700 applications annually, with about 20 candidates shortlisted for the final scholarship examination, from which 14 beneficiaries emerge.
He added that full scholarships cover the first three years of junior secondary school and may be extended to six years based on sustained academic performance.

In her remarks, a parent, Odera Okonkwo, praised the school for providing a strong academic foundation for the children.
Okonkwo highlighted the importance of discipline and quality primary education, urging parents to ensure their children complete foundational classes to build a solid academic base.
