The Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, has said the Federal Government’s intervention in Kebbi State demonstrates its commitment to cushioning the hardship faced by victims of banditry and restoring hope to affected communities.
Umar made the declaration on Monday while flagging off the distribution of relief materials to persons affected by recent attacks in Shanga, Yauri and Bunza Local Government Areas of the state.
The ceremony, held in Birnin Kebbi, marked the formal commencement of the distribution exercise to displaced and vulnerable households impacted by the violence.
According to a press statement signed by Manzo Ezekiel of the NEMA Press Unit in Abuja, the relief materials were deployed following a comprehensive assessment of the urgent needs of affected populations.
Umar sympathised with the Kebbi State Government and the impacted communities, explaining that the items distributed were carefully selected to address critical humanitarian gaps.
She noted that the intervention aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises timely humanitarian support and the welfare of citizens across the country.
Representing the Emir of Gwandu, the Wazirin Gwandu, Alhaji Abubakar Umar, commended the Federal Government and NEMA for what he described as a swift and responsive action.
He expressed optimism that the support would ease the suffering of displaced families and help stabilise the affected communities.

Also speaking, the Wife of the Kebbi State Governor, Hajiya Zainab Nasare Nasir, said the relief materials would provide much-needed succour to households that lost property and livelihoods during the attacks.
The distribution forms part of broader federal efforts to mitigate the humanitarian impact of banditry and reinforce support systems for communities facing security challenges in the North-West.
