Zero Discrimination Day: Nonye Soludo Demands End to Bias, Calls Discrimination ‘Language of Barbarism

The Wife of Charles Soludo, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has urged Nigerians to uphold human dignity and reject all forms of discrimination, describing prejudice as a “language of barbarism and hate.”
Dr. Soludo made the call on Sunday in Awka while commemorating the 2026 Zero Discrimination Day, observed globally every March 1. She emphasized the need for citizens to treat one another with dignity and respect, regardless of differences in beliefs, class, creed, or physical condition.
Zero Discrimination Day is observed across member states of the United Nations to promote equality before the law and foster inclusive societies free from stigma and bias.
Speaking at the event, the governor’s wife, who is also the Founder of the Healthy Living Initiative, said genuine love should transcend social divisions and promote compassion.
“True love sees no differences, only hearts filled with compassion and genuine desire to make others feel loved, valued and respected. Respect is the soul of human dignity,” she said.
She warned that discrimination undermines social harmony and erodes the moral fabric of society.
“Discrimination, on the other hand, is a language of barbarism and hate,” she added.
Dr. Soludo called on Nigerians to demonstrate empathy, compassion, and inclusiveness in their daily interactions, stressing that individual actions collectively shape the character of society.

“Do the best you can to always treat people with dignity, irrespective of their beliefs, class, creed or physical conditions. That’s one way to make our society a better place for all of us,” she said.
She further stressed the importance of collective responsibility in building a society anchored on love, equality, and mutual respect.
