GreenLand News Magazine Lecture Spotlights Media, Innovation, Youth Empowerment as Drivers of National Development

GreenLand News Magazine, in partnership with the Young Entrepreneurs and Innovators Foundation (YEI Foundation), on Saturday hosted its Annual Lecture/Award Ceremony in Abuja, focusing attention on the role of media, technology, and youth empowerment in shaping Nigeria’s future.
Held under the theme “Building a Future of Impact: Media, Innovation, and Youth Empowerment,” the event convened media professionals, policymakers, innovators, youth leaders, and development partners committed to advancing national growth.
In her welcome remarks, Editor-in-Chief of GreenLand News Magazine, Amb. Dr. Peace Ofeoshi, underscored the need to equip young people with tools, opportunities, and platforms that will enable them to drive innovation and societal change.
“The media remains a powerful force for accountability and storytelling. Innovation opens new pathways for growth and solutions. And our youth—energetic, creative, and resilient—hold the key to transforming these opportunities into real impact,” she said, urging stronger collaboration among institutions, communities, and young innovators across Africa.
Chairman of the occasion, Comrade Shanabo Abubakar, emphasized youth employment and capacity-building as a national priority. He said Nigeria’s demographic advantage can only translate into economic strength when deliberate investment is made in training and equipping young people with relevant skills.
“Nigeria’s young population is an asset, not a burden. What they need is structured training, mentorship, and access to platforms that can help them become employers of labour,” he said. “When we invest in youth skills, we reduce unemployment and strengthen our economy.”
