Mövenpick Hotel Ikoyi Lagos, part of the Accor portfolio, said it has achieved the Green Key Certification for 2025, a prestigious eco-label coordinated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE).
This is contained in a statement signed by Ubongabasi Nseobot, Commercial Lead, Mövenpick Hotel, and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Lagos.
Nseobot said the recognition placed the hotel among Nigeria’s top leaders in sustainable hospitality and sets a new benchmark for responsible tourism across the country.
She said that the certification underscored the hotel’s unwavering commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainable operations.
According to her, the Green Key is a globally recognized label granted only to establishments that demonstrate exceptional standards in environmental management, energy efficiency, and community engagement.
She stressed that the hotel has embedded sustainability into every aspect of its operations, listing some of its key initiatives as:
“Eliminating 60 per cent of single-use plastics across outlets and recycling them.
“Implementing food waste monitoring systems to minimise waste.
“Optimizing energy efficiency through sustainable lighting and energy-saving practices.
“Championing water conservation measures throughout hotel operations.”
She noted that by collaborating with both global and local partners, the hotel fosters innovation in eco-friendly solutions, offering guests not just luxury and comfort, but also meaningful, responsible travel experiences.
