The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has refuted claims that it endorsed any faction of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Europe (NIDOE).
In a statement signed by Alaba Balogun, Deputy Director and Head of Information and Public Relations, the Ministry said its attention was drawn to a circulating video showing the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, in a meeting being presented as proof of official endorsement.
According to the Ministry, the meeting in question was arranged by Nurses Across Borders (NAB), a diaspora-based NGO that has been working with the Ministry’s Diaspora Unit on migration policy and implementation plans. NAB had brought foreign partners to present strategies for managing the migration of Nigerian healthcare workers, drawing on models used in the Middle East and the Philippines.
During the presentation, some Nigerians in diaspora—who introduced themselves as representatives of NIDO Europe—attended alongside NAB members and expressed interest in collaborating on ethical migration frameworks for Nigerian health workers.
The Ministry stressed that while it is open to working with reputable and experienced private organisations to ensure ethical migration, it does not interfere in the internal affairs of diaspora groups.

“The Ministry is committed to protecting the interests of Nigerian health workers, both at home and abroad, and will continue to explore partnerships that improve the health sector,” the statement read.
The clarification comes amid concerns over misleading claims circulating in the media regarding the Ministry’s alleged endorsement of a specific diaspora faction.
