Nigeria and Israel have renewed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with a focus on security cooperation, counter-terrorism, intelligence sharing, and expanded economic collaboration.
The pledge was contained in a joint communique issued after a Political Dialogue held on Monday, August 11, 2025, in Abuja between Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and Israel’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sharren Miriam Haskel-Harpaz.
The technical session was co-chaired by Ambassador Janet Olisa, Director (Regions) at Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador Sharon Bar-Li, Deputy Director General and Head of Africa Division at Israel’s Foreign Ministry.
Acknowledging terrorism and insecurity as pressing global concerns, both nations agreed to deepen cooperation in counter-terrorism, intelligence and information exchange, with particular emphasis on security financing and specialized training.
They also resolved to enhance collaboration in multilateral forums, and to expand partnerships in technology, border management, agriculture, culture, tourism, consular, and immigration matters.

To boost capacity building, Nigeria and Israel will introduce exchange study tours and maintain regular dialogue to sustain the momentum of their partnership.
The communique highlighted their shared vision for a stronger, trust-based relationship anchored on mutual respect and strategic cooperation.
