The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has donated vital relief materials to support the Federal Government’s De-radicalization, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration (DRR) programme for repentant ex-insurgents.
The programme, implemented through Operation Safe Corridor, adopts a non-kinetic strategy to address insecurity by providing psychological support, vocational training, and reintegration into society for former combatants.
The relief package included both food and non-food items such as bags of rice and maize, vegetable oil, cartons of seasoning, bath towels, guinea brocade fabrics, and men’s clothing, among other essentials. These supplies are meant to support the day-to-day welfare of programme participants currently undergoing rehabilitation.
NEMA’s Director General, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, officially handed over the items to the Commander of Operation Safe Corridor, Brigadier General Yusuf Ali, at the rehabilitation camp in Gombe State. She was represented at the event by the agency’s Director of Search and Rescue, Air Commodore Abang Oyong.
In her remarks, Mrs. Umar reiterated NEMA’s commitment to supporting the DRR programme as a key stakeholder. She noted that the intervention followed a recent request from the leadership of Operation Safe Corridor and affirmed the agency’s dedication to national peacebuilding efforts.

Brigadier General Ali, in his response, thanked NEMA for the timely support, describing it as a crucial contribution to the continued success of the rehabilitation process and the well-being of participants.
