ABUJA – The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, 25th December, Thursday, 26th December 2024, and Wednesday, 1st January 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations respectively.
This announcement was made in a statement released on Monday by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Interior. According to the statement, the declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government.
Dr. Ajani conveyed the Minister’s warm greetings to Nigerians, urging them to embrace the values of love, peace, and unity that the festive season represents.
“The Christmas season provides an opportunity to reflect on and uphold the values of harmony and goodwill within families and communities,” Dr. Tunji-Ojo stated.
He called on Nigerians to remain committed to fostering peace, unity, and progress for the nation’s development.

The Minister reassured citizens of the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the nation.
While wishing Nigerians a joyful Christmas and a prosperous 2025, Dr. Tunji-Ojo expressed optimism about the success of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. He noted that the administration’s efforts would usher in a new year of economic growth and national progress.
