The Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Daju Kachollom S. mni has urged the Management and Staff of National Hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections Control Programme (NASCP) to intensify their endeavors in delivering adequate services to humanity.
She delivered this message during the inauguration of office accommodations designated for the National Hepatitis HIV/AIDS and STI’S Control Programme (NASCP) at the First Floor Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, held on the 13th of August, 2024, in Abuja.
The Permanent Secretary emphasized that individuals afflicted with HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, and STIs should be met with compassion, empathy, patience, and a human touch, and encouraged the provision of services that would offer relief to Nigerians.
She highlighted the importance of NASCP in establishing essential guidelines and policies that would enhance the healthcare sector.
Daju Kachollom expressed her satisfaction with the prompt completion of the renovation project, commending the efforts of the Director of Public Health, Dr. Chukwuma Anyaike, and the Director of General Services, Alhaji Sulaiman Umar, for ensuring timely completion of the task.
She also expressed gratitude towards the Global Fund for their timely support, pledging continuous collaboration with other organizations to achieve significant advancements in the healthcare sector.
The National Coordinator of National Hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, and STI’S Control Programme (NASCP), Dr. Adebobola Bashorum, expressed delight and recalled the program’s inception in 1987 at the Ministry’s Headquarters to cater to individuals with HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, and STIs. He highlighted that the provided offices would significantly enhance the program’s operations.
Dr. Bashorum thanked the Permanent Secretary and the Director of Public Health for their unwavering support and roles in ensuring the project’s completion within the stipulated timeframe, assuring that the facilities would be utilized for their intended purpose.
He also acknowledged the support from the Global Fund for equipping the place with state-of-the-art equipment, deeming the gesture commendable.
Subsequently, the NASCP Coordinator escorted the Permanent Secretary and other dignitaries on a tour of the offices. Notable personalities present included the newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Mines, Dr. Osokpunwu, Osa Christopher, Director of Public Health, Dr. Chukwuma Anyaike, Director of General Services, Alhaji Sulaiman Umar, Director of Legal, Mr. Oluwatobi Adewale Omosa, among others.
