MHF Partners with MWAN to Launch School Health Programs in Nigeria

Maden Healthcare Foundation (MHF), in collaboration with the National Outreach Committee of the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), has declared November as School Health Program Month, aimed at implementing health initiatives across schools nationwide.

The program was launched by the Benue State Chapter of MWAN on November 8, 2024, in partnership with the MWAN National Outreach Committee, Maden Healthcare Foundation, and the Good Nigerian Foundation.

The event took place recently at Aper Aku Stadium and Good News Chapel, Benue State University, Makurdi.

With the theme A Healthier School Today: A Prosperous Nation Tomorrow, the outreach aimed to raise awareness among students on crucial health topics. More than 1,000 students from over 20 primary and secondary schools in Benue State participated in sessions focusing on hygiene, challenges faced by teenagers, and sexual health. The event also featured engaging activities such as spelling bees, debates, art displays, and fashion parades.

Students were provided with deworming medication (antihelmintics) and prizes were awarded to winners of the various competitions.

Special acknowledgment was given to the President of the MWAN Benue State Chapter, the State Outreach Coordinator, and participating MWAN members, including Drs. Grace Rimamnunra, Goodness Amuta, and Gift Izenyi. Members of the Nigerian Medical Students Association (NIMSA) and Rimam Global Ministries also contributed significantly to the success of the event.
