The Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to working closely with states and other key stakeholders to address environmental challenges across the country.
Minister Lawal made this assurance while receiving a Fellowship and Leadership Excellence Award from the Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership (CIML), USA, during a ceremony in Abuja.
The Minister emphasized that the recognition would inspire the Ministry to intensify efforts in implementing environmental policies nationwide. He commended CIML for its initiative to enhance the leadership capacity of Nigerians in tackling ecological issues.
Lawal highlighted the achievements of the current administration in the environmental sector, underscoring their importance in fostering a healthy environment aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He dedicated the awards to the staff of the Ministry and its agencies, acknowledging their collective dedication and contributions to the Ministry’s success in environmental management.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Sam Ojo, CIML’s Country Director, stated that the awards were conferred on the Minister in recognition of his exemplary leadership and commitment to addressing environmental challenges in Nigeria. Dr. Ojo further noted that a healthy environment is crucial for economic stability, national security, and a robust healthcare system.
The Institute also announced plans to train 30,000 leaders across various sectors to equip them with skills to tackle challenges nationwide.
The awards were presented to Minister Lawal by Mrs. Ngozi Adeleke, First Lady of Osun State and a Fellow of the Institute, while Prof. Mark Okaji handed over the certificates.
